About the role

We are looking for a Senior Sales Engineer who will be a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the field sales team. The Sales Engineer (SE) will be responsible for positioning and selling Signal Sciences’ web application security hybrid SaaS solution to enterprise customers. Successful candidates must exhibit strong leadership and communication skills who can identify underlying business drivers and requirements and address them accordingly. Candidates should have 7+ years of experience in roles that require direct technical customer interaction, such as Sales Engineering, Professional Services, or Solutions Engineering background.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver compelling product demonstrations tailored to customers’ needs/requirements
  • Support customers throughout technical evaluation lifecycle, starting with pre-sales technical demonstrations and leading to guided production installations across a diverse set of foundational technologies
  • Maintain a Subject Matter Expert level of knowledge of Signal Sciences’ solutions while staying current in understanding the competitive landscape and industry trends
  • Help to establish and refine policies, processes, and procedures that will ensure revenue growth and an educated field team
  • Convey customer requirements to Product and Engineering teams
  • Ability to travel throughout assigned sales territory for meetings with prospects, partners and to staff events

Qualifications

  • Experience with some or all the following foundational technologies: SaaS/Cloud or hybrid cloud deployments; Apache/NGINX/IIS or other web server platforms and associated Application server technologies and frameworks
  • Unix/Linux or Windows systems administration
  • Scripting ability with any of the following: Python, Java, Go, PHP, Unix/Linux Shell, C#, or other common Web languages
  • Strong skills and experience with Linux/Unix
  • Ability and experience in troubleshooting software products

Nice to have

  • HTTP protocol experience. We protect all types of web servers so everything we work with will involve HTTP protocol
  • Docker experience. Many of our customers are using Docker and the orchestration tools around it in their environment
  • Kubernetes Know-how. Kubernetes is now being used everywhere and we always like to have more in house knowledge
  • Systems Config Management. Ways to make it easier to deploy our software into customer environments is very helpful
  • Coding background in any language
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
