Overview

We are looking for a Sr. Product Marketing Manager to join our Marketing team in Culver City, CA. A remote position may be considered for highly-qualified applicants, but some travel will be required.

About the role

Signal Sciences is looking for an entrepreneurial Sr. Product Marketing Manager with technical depth and strong knowledge of the enterprise security market, ideally in the WAF, RASP and application security segment.

Reporting to the Director of Product Marketing, this role will be instrumental in developing and executing strategic marketing pieces and content including sales collateral and competitive intelligence. We’re in search of a performance-driven individual with a can-do attitude who is excited by taking ownership of and driving strategic initiatives that evangelize the Signal Sciences product story in the market.

In this role, you’ll work cross-functionally with the Product Management, Marketing, and Sales teams to create assets highlighting the strategic value our offering provides customers. This role is a strategically important one and has the potential to make a significant impact on Signal Sciences’ business.

As a Sr. Product Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Becoming well versed in our product offering, the market, the competition, and our target audiences of developers, security and operations staff (i.e. motivations and challenges).
  • Crafting messaging and asset copy that positions us to win against the competition based on the knowledge above.
  • Working cross-functionally across the org to create effective go-to-market deliverables that help establish and reinforce Signal Sciences as a leader in the dynamic application security marketplace.
  • Providing product management with research and data to inform the roadmap and serve as a subject matter expert.

We have 25+ competitors in the WAF and RASP application security space, so you need to bring your A game and be “in it to win it.” This role is highly cross-functional, ultimately giving you an overview of the business and exposure to all aspects of the organization. Crucial to this role are the abilities to lead by influence rather than authority and grasp and translate technical capabilities into benefits and competitive advantages.

Responsibilities

  • Drive competitive intelligence and market research and analysis to understand customer and prospect needs, assess market opportunities and craft differentiated materials (e.g., battle cards, sales scripts) to empower our field, including features, pricing, and positioning
  • Evangelize the Signal Sciences offering by partnering with Product Management and Sales engineers and other in-house or external SME’s to develop collateral, including blogs and webinars
  • Work collaboratively across Sales, Marketing and Product Management teams to create and drive a consistent, compelling, and differentiated product message to the market Develop integrated go-to-market plans and then work cross-functionally to ensure streamlined execution
  • Sales enablement: communicate the value proposition of the products to the Sales team by developing the content, tools, and training that support the selling process
  • Conduct interviews with customers, write case studies and publish both case studies and internal presentation slides with key takeaways
  • Provide transparency to the broader organization into marketing objections, asset status, and product development and launch activities as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Marketing, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 4-6 years of product marketing experience in enterprise security software, cloud infrastructure, SaaS, and/or managed services.
  • Experience in translating engineering features into clear positioning with customer-specific value propositions
  • Experience in creating technical marketing collateral and sales enablement tools *Understanding of SDLC fundamentals, current trends (DevOps, cloud) and SaaS-based business models.
  • Experience in information security (specifically, the WAF and RASP markets is a huge plus!)
  • Data-driven, analytical, and fact-based approach to making business recommendations and decisions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: the ability to speak knowledgeably, clearly and persuasively to a diverse range of audiences, both internal and external
  • Ability to build strong rapport and have good relationship management skills
  • Comfortable in high energy and fast-paced environments
  • Strong ability to multitask, driving multiple deadlines and balancing and ranking priorities
  • Strong collaborative skills to clarify and understand requirements from internal customers (sales, corp. communications, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead groups and pull individuals together to achieve common goals
